I wanted to make some mini maple leaves using the same yarn I am using for the MAPLE LEAF Shawls. I have a few different ideas on color schemes and techniques for dyeing the shawls, but I have never dyed an already knit object. I will practice on the mini maple leaves first.

MAPLE LEAF the Sixth and MAPLE LEAF the Seventh
Last week was the week of all the appointments. Most weeks, I only leave the house a couple times, mostly for errands. But last week, I was out every day and for 3 of those days I was out of the house for the entire day. I did get crafting done and turned in for HPKCHC classes by the end of the month, but I did not write blog posts on my crafting. The completed crafting included two more MAPLE LEAF Shawls.
First Ever Weaving
This past weekend, I took a weaving class at my favorite local yarn store (LYS), Knit! I planned to learn to weave sometime. After all, it was the only one of the four Ravelry-official crafts that I had yet to try. I did not have a specific timeframe in mind for learning to weave. I had a vague thought that perhaps I would try it sometime next year. Last year, I learned to crochet. This year, I learned to spin. Next year, I could learn to weave. But when I heard that Knit! was having a class, I signed up immediately. Why not?
Umbridge Pretty in Pink Kitty Pi
During the last week of August, while Chris and I were in New Jersey, I boarded Pepper at the vet. This was traumatic for me; she’s 18 years old and never been boarded before. I’ve always had someone come to my house to feed and water the cats while we were away. But her health was fragile, and she was taking 6 medications a day which was a lot to ask of friends or family. So I boarded her. I sent her with the USA Kitty Pi that I made a few months ago. It never occurred to me that they might wash it, so I left no washing instructions. They washed and dried it which meant, of course, that it shrunk. It was now too small for Pepper!
Autumnal Socks
When we moved to Florida, I thought I would miss having four seasons. My husband said, “If you miss a season, we can always visit it.” I’ve been living in Florida for 12 years now, and most of the time I do not miss seasons. We haven’t taken a trip just to visit a season. We actually get 3 seasons here, though ‘spring’ and ‘fall’ do not happen when I expect them. We get fall-like weather in February. I even get to see leaves change in February; the Crepe Myrtles in our back yard turn brilliant red and orange. Still, September brings with it the expectation of changing colors, and when I look out my windows, everything is green. So the autumn colorway of the socks I finished before we left for California made me particularly happy.
