July was a rather frustrating month of crafting. I met few of my goals. I expected to get a lot done because I was home for the entire month, but this turned out not to be the case. Since I was home for the entire month, I spent a lot of time catching up on home tasks that had languished while I was doing so much traveling between March and June. It was excellent and necessary to get those things done, but it meant the crafting did not get done.
Knitting
WIP Wednesday: August 6, 2014
I have been delinquent in my WIP Wednesday posts, in part because I have been embarrassed by how little crafting I did in July. But that is one purpose of the WIP Wednesday posts: motivating me to make progress, because it isn’t interesting content if there’s no progress. Fortunately, I have progress!
MAPLE LEAF the Fourth
I am a bit behind on my blogging! I finished MAPLE LEAF the Fourth on Sunday, June 27, in time to turn it in for the final round of Quidditch! I haven’t missed posting a finished MAPLE LEAF the Third, by the way. I am still not finished weaving in the ends. Soon. I hope.
To Knit or Not to Knit: Helpful and Humorous Hints for the Passionate Knitter by Elvira Woodruff
I like books about knitting. I do not mean pattern books, which I do love, but aren’t what I am referring to here. I mostly mean memoirs or essays. I also read novels that involve knitting, but they aren’t my favorite. Most of the novels I’ve come across are genre series, a category of books I do not often read, regardless of knitting references, as I tend to get bored with them after a couple books. There’s not a lot of knitting memoir and essay books out there, so a couple months ago, I went poking around on Amazon to see if I could find any that I had not read. I looked in the “Coming Soon” list and found To Knit or Not to Knit (Is that even a legitimate question?! Of course there will be knitting!). It sounded interesting, so I pre-ordered it and then forgot all about it until it arrived on my doorstep a week ago, a couple days before the official release date. Since I was in the midst of dealing with Pepper’s health, I did not get to read it until last night. I’m sorry that it took me so long to get to it, as I quite enjoyed the book!
WIP Wednesday
I spent most of my knitting time this week on the Begonia Swirl Shawl, which is now finished. But I did do a little bit of other work this week.
